A quick update on what’s been going for me over the last couple of weeks and a new version of my song – World Evolving.

It’s been a challenging couple of weeks! I learned that my sister was in hospital with breathing difficulties caused by Coronavirus. And a couple of days after that my father had died from a long-term illness. As you can imagine, I’ve been feeling sad ☹️ , upset 😢 and worried 🥺. But…there were some really positive things happened 👍👍👍 which I’d like to share with you…

Firstly, the hospital staff 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ looking after my sister did a great job to the point where she’s back home and recovering well.

Secondly, my sister’s immediate family were incredibly diligent about keeping distance and following the UK isolation guidelines within the home. And her husband and son have not developed any symptoms 👍

Thirdly, my 71 year old mother, after some firm and kind persuasion from me, agreed to social distance and isolate at home for her own safety. She didn’t want to do this to begin with – she wanted people in there with her for comfort. But over time she accepted it was right and is now doing really well under the circumstances. I visited, sat outside on the patio wrapped in a duvet (it was cold!) and supported her from there. We even went for a daily walk together safely 2m apart, which is being recommended in the UK.

My father passed away peacefully. He was a brilliant husband and a great provider for the family. And he could dance and sing. He wasn’t John Travolter or Ed Sheeran 😂 but he did his best and folk loved him.

I’ve also been bowled over by how kind and caring my close friends and family have been throughout all of this. And also my friends across the digital social channels. Receiving amazing support which helped me stay strong, grounded and support my mother. Meditation, prayer and exercise were also very kind friends – I’d recommend them.

The last couple of weeks days have put my usual anxieties and complaints into full perspective and deepened my understanding about how important human connection and kindness is. Even if it is from over 2m away!

I’ve been continuing to spend a lot of time alone in my apartment. And now starting to get into the groove of it. It’s really quite amazing how adaptable our minds are. I do have a few unpleasant feelings here and there but on the whole it’s actually been quite good. I know that it’s forced me to rest in my true essence more and raise my level of consciousness. So I’m deepening my relationship with God or spirit. And the whole situation has got be thinking more about how many things I used to do before that I can actually let go of – a lot of unnecessary noise.

Even in light of all this very difficult stuff going on for folk, I do believe that the world is evolving through this situation. And that people are evolving in different ways. Which links in nicely to what I’d like to share with you. It’s a new version of my new song “World Evolving”.

This version features the talented musicians and producer Fátima Teixeira and Giovani Goulart. It comes with new vocals and guitar from myself. With piano from Fatima and percussion, bass and production from Giovani. I’d like to thank Fatima and Giovani for their generosity in making this version of the song so wonderful.

It’s positive and reassuring song about our world evolving through difficult times. Recognising the challenge of staying mindful and the importance of kindness.

P.s. you can hear the version without intro here and the original acoustic version here.

Lyrics:

Well it’s a new day
And everybody
We’re changing
We’re all evolving

How we act today
Will propagate
Into the future
Our world’s evolving

A crowded head – but I can’t stop thinking
I’d stay in bed. But I can’t keep still
A wise man said – stay in the present
Stop right there! And be still – be still

Well it’s a new day
And everybody
We’re growing
And it is showing

What we say today
Will propagate
Into the future
Saying and knowing

A crowded head – but I can’t stop thinking
I’d stay in bed. But I can’t keep still
A wise man said – stay in the present
Stop right here! And be still – be still

Well it’s a new day
And everybody
We’re changing
Giving and loving
Our world’s evolving
